Soul Collective’s Cultural Canvas (SCCC), running from September 2024 to May 2025 at Jaxon Station, offers vibrant art experiences and skill-building opportunities led by talented artisans. The program includes Open Sew, Open Art, Beyond Canvases, and Bridging the Math Gap with Math-focused workshops, all designed to empower youth, enrich cultural understanding, and foster community engagement. With a focus on inclusivity and outreach, SCCC aims to create a lasting cultural and economic impact.

  • OPEN ART

    Led by: Crystal Brown

    Monthly two-hour themed focused sessions: painting techniques and/or ancient incense making. Ages 16+

    Paint classes cover various styles and may contribute to a community mural.

    Ancient Incense Making delves into diverse cultural traditions.

  • OPEN SEW

    Led by: Tonya Collins

    Safe space to enhance their sewing skills in two-hour, bi-monthly sessions.

    Participants may engage in individual and/or collaborative projects, accessing diverse equipment and materials. Some sewing experience is required. Sewing Machines will be provided for in-house use or feel free to bring your own.

    Sessions age groups will be split into two categories.

    Ages 10-15 and Ages 16+

  • BEYOND CANVASES

    Led by: Trunetta Atwater

    A photography project partnering with local high school students fulfilling graduation service hours. Each student is required to complete 10 service hours per year. In return for service hours, the students will create photographic visuals for SOUL collective businesses to use for future marketing. 

    Sessions occur twice monthly, each lasting two hours.

  • BRIDGING THE MATH GAP

    Led by: Danielle Barbee

    Focusing on math tutoring for students in grades 3-8, targeting the lowest performing elementary and middle schools in JMCSS.

    This will consist of twice-a-month, spring workshops utilizing math combined with art and music.
